Ingredients

Unbleached Enriched Flours (Wheat Flour, Malted Barley Flour, Niacin, Iron, Thiamin Mononitrate, Riboflavin, Folic Acid), Brown Sugar, Sugar, Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips (Sugar, Chocolate Liquor, Cocoa Butter, Soy Lecithin, Vanilla Extract), Cocoa Powder (processed with Alkali), Vegetable Oil [Canola Oil (Ascorbic Acid and Rosemary added to preserve freshness) and/or Sunflower Oil], Buttermilk, Palm Oil, Baking Powder [(Sodium Acid Pyrophosphate, Baking Soda, Cornstarch, Monocalcium Phosphate) leavening], Salt, Natural Vanilla Flavor, Baking Soda (leavening), Coffee Powder. CONTAINS: Wheat, Milk, Soy. This product is prepared and packaged using equipment that may come in contact with Egg, Tree Nuts (Pecans, Coconut, Almonds), Sesame.

Directions

Preheat oven to 375°F.
Lightly grease baking sheet pan, line with parchment paper, or use wedge-shaped scone pan.

In bowl, add water to mix and stir with fork until combined and sticky dough forms. If dough seems dry, add additional water 1 teaspoon at a time.

Drop heaping tablespoons of dough (10-12) about 3" apart onto prepared pan.

For triangle shaped scones, shape by hand into triangle or if using a wedge-shaped pan, drop even mounds of dough into each cavity and spread into triangle shape.

Bake 13-15 minutes, or until firm and lightly golden on top.

This chocolate scone mix is easy to make and great with added chopped walnuts or pecans. The scone are sweet but not overly sweet. They are perfect bite of chocolate.

Dark Chocolate Scones

These were wonderful. I am definitely a chocoholic and these scones definitely satisfied my cravings. I added a little cocoa to the glaze mix so I had chocolate frosting too. Delicious.

Not Your Usual Scone!

While these are definitely not your usual scone, they are none the less delicious. My husband craves these intensely chocolate, moist and tender scones. Sometimes, I'll add toasted, chopped pecans or walnuts along with a few currants for a taste that is reminiscent of and old fashioned Chunky candy bar. Husband likes these as a dessert or late night snack.
